The golf at Golf Club of the Everglades
Rees Jones designed the course with Greg Muirhead, and it opened in 2000 on 261 acres. The Rees Jones firm describes sculptured bunkers, rolling fairways, expansive lakes and native grasses on an open site where wind is a major factor. The club calls the course a walkable design.
The 2015 redesign
PulteGroup bought the club and adjacent land in 2013 to create a golf and real estate community. To fit more than 500 housing units, the Rees Jones firm re-routed the course, relocating four holes and reversing the direction of play on another. Construction of the new holes began in February 2015. The remaining holes had tree removal, lake edge restoration, rebuilt bunkers, modified greens, and drainage and irrigation work, and the entire course was regrassed. The practice area was refurbished, and the Short Game Area was rebuilt and expanded.

Take the Golf Club QuizWhere to live if you join Golf Club of the Everglades
Many of Joe Belz’s clients live west of 41 and drive to a private club. In his words: “Live in the best locations and drive to a private golf club is what they do.” The club publishes no residency rule, so ask whether that pattern is open here. The road connection is direct.
Living elsewhere and driving in
The club sits off Vanderbilt Beach Road east of Collier Boulevard, near Olde Florida Golf Club. From there Vanderbilt Beach Road runs west across Collier Boulevard, passes under I-75 without an interchange, crosses Livingston Road, Airport-Pulling Road and Goodlette-Frank Road, meets US 41, and ends at Gulf Shore Drive in Vanderbilt Beach. South along US 41 are Pelican Bay, Park Shore, the Moorings and Olde Naples.
As of October 2026, Joe’s Compass profile shows 46 closed sales in Olde Naples, 25 in the Moorings, 18 in Pelican Bay, including Bay Colony, and 8 in Vanderbilt Beach. The Naples golf club comparison sets the clubs side by side.
Greyhawk
Greyhawk, the community PulteGroup planned around the course, has about 500 homes and surrounds the club. The Apex Team lists single-family homes and condominiums. The club publishes no terms for Greyhawk owners, so ask the Membership Director how a specific home relates to the club before you make an offer.
