The golf at CAVU Golf Club

Rees Jones designed the course with Steve Weisser, and it opened in 2000 as a resort course for what is now Naples Grande Beach Resort. The Rees Jones firm describes native pine hammocks, live oak and cypress, with meandering natural waterways as a signature feature. The club calls the greens strategically elevated and describes elevation changes, water features and fairways framed by native vegetation. It says the course is one of the few in Naples where no homes line the fairways.

A new clubhouse opened in 2016. The most recent work came in two parts. Beau Welling led the course renovation, which the club’s February 18, 2026 announcement called recently completed, and the club said he “thoughtfully enhanced playability for golfers of all skill levels while preserving the integrity of Jones’ original design intent.” Wegman Design Group designed the clubhouse renovation. The club named course conditioning, infrastructure, member flow and daily service as the priorities. Its golf page describes the result as “a compelling test for accomplished players while maintaining playability for all.”

The club has not published a hole-by-hole account of what changed, so ask it which greens, bunkers or tees were altered. Beau Welling Design’s site lists Naples Grande GC among the notable projects of one shaper in DZR, its shaping division.

Instruction centers on the Durland Golf School, which Mark Durland, the club’s Director of Instruction, established there in 2005. The club also lists private lessons and group clinics from its golf professionals. True Spec Golf announced its Naples South club-fitting site at CAVU on March 17, 2026. The golf calendar runs from signature championships to casual gatherings, with events for a variety of interests and handicaps.

How membership at CAVU Golf Club works

CAVU Golf Club is a private, members-only club. It previously ran on a semi-private model affiliated with Naples Grande Beach Resort. On February 18, 2026, the club announced its move to fully private, citing membership demand after the renovation. Rob Duckett, Managing Director, Golf and Club Operations of Henderson Park, said the change allows the club “to protect the integrity of the golf experience by prioritizing access, course conditioning and service.” The club says the name is drawn from an aerospace term meaning “clear ahead visibility unlimited.”

The 2026 Collier County tax roll lists the course under HP SSP Naples Golf LLC, a Henderson Park entity. Henderson Park and South Street Partners bought Naples Grande Beach Resort, the golf course and the tennis center in 2022 for $248 million. The club does not publish whether membership is equity or non-equity, so ask the membership office.

CategoryAnnual duesTerms as of 09/2026
Full Golf$30,000Currently on a wait list
Sport$24,000Available only to grandfathered Sport members
Social$12,600Unlimited Golf May – October, Limited to 12 rounds November – April

Initiation for golf membership is $250,000 as of September 2026. The club does not publish a fee schedule. Its inquiry form offers Golf and Social, and it says applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis as membership opportunities become available. The club lists Gina Lynch as Director of Membership Services, and its general contacts are 239-659-3700 and memberservices@cavugolfclub.com.

The club does not publish sponsorship requirements, refund terms, a membership cap, food and beverage minimums or other charges. Ask the membership office about each one, including whether any part of the initiation fee is refundable and whether the $250,000 applies to Social. The comparison of Naples golf clubs sets the numbers side by side.

Members keep access to the amenities at Naples Grande Beach Resort, about six miles from the club at 475 Seagate Drive: beach access with private cabanas, pools, racquet courts, fitness, spa and dining. The club says those amenities are under renovation, set to complete in December 2026. Most resort operations are closed from April 1 through December 31, 2026, although the resort said in November 2025 that Clam Pass beach services and the Naples Tennis Academy would keep operating. The resort is scheduled to reopen in January 2027 as Signia Hilton Naples Grande Beach Resort.

Where to live if you join CAVU Golf Club

The club says no homes line the fairways, so joining and choosing a house are separate decisions. Most of Joe’s clients are golfers, and the neighborhoods where he has done the most business are not golf communities. “Live in the best locations and drive to a private golf club is what they do,” Joe says. “We help people navigate which club and then where to live.”

Two east-west roads do the work. Golden Gate Parkway (County Road 886) runs west from the club, crosses Airport-Pulling Road and Goodlette-Frank Road, and reaches US 41 at the eastern edge of the Moorings. Pine Ridge Road (County Road 896) runs farther north, crosses the same two roads, reaches US 41 and continues as Seagate Drive to Naples Grande Beach Resort.

NeighborhoodHow it connects to the club
Grey Oaks and EstuaryNorth side of Golden Gate Parkway. Grey Oaks is across the road from the club, and Estuary is farther west, past Airport-Pulling Road. Grey Oaks is a golf and country club community with its own club.
The MooringsWest of US 41, at the western end of Golden Gate Parkway. Take the parkway east.
Park ShoreWest of US 41, directly north of the Moorings. Take US 41 south to Golden Gate Parkway, then go east.
Coquina SandsWest of US 41, directly south of the Moorings. Take US 41 north to Golden Gate Parkway, then go east.
Olde NaplesWest of US 41, south of Coquina Sands. Take US 41 north to Golden Gate Parkway, then go east.
Pelican BayWest of US 41, north of Seagate Drive. Take US 41 south to Pine Ridge Road, go east to Airport-Pulling Road, then south to Golden Gate Parkway and east.

As of October 2026, Joe’s Compass profile shows 46 closed sales in Olde Naples, 25 in the Moorings, 18 in Pelican Bay, 13 in Coquina Sands and 12 in Park Shore.
