The Moorings Golf & Country Club lists its Golf Membership as waitlisted as of October 2026, and living in the Moorings neighborhood does not make you a member. It is a private, member-owned equity club at 2500 Crayton Road in Naples, Florida, inside that neighborhood and west of US 41, with one 18-hole, par-63 course of nine par 3s and nine par 4s, laid out by Milton Link and completed in 1963. You do not have to live in the Moorings to join, and the club does not publish its initiation or dues, so current figures come from the membership office at (239) 261-0909. Joe Belz + Apex Team helps buyers work out which club fits and then where to live.

The golf at The Moorings Golf & Country Club
The Moorings is short by design. Its 18 holes play to par 63, with nine par 3s and nine par 4s, and the club says members finish in three hours or less, walking or riding.
The course came with the neighborhood. Milton Link, a landscape architect turned developer, created the Moorings for Julio Lobo, the Cuban sugar entrepreneur, after the first parcel of the Crayton Tract closed on September 17, 1957. Link laid out the golf course, which was completed in 1963. The club’s history describes a development with its own private beach, golf course and property owners’ association. On December 1, 1968, the board announced The Moorings Country Club of Naples, Inc., and the club began operating as a private club that day.
The USGA rates the course from three sets of tees, shown here with length, Course Rating and Slope Rating as of October 2026.
| Tee | Yards | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|---|
| White | 3,489 | 58.7 / 83 | 60.2 / 94 |
| Red | 3,230 | 57.9 / 81 | 58.9 / 92 |
| Gold | 2,185 | 52.6 / 69 | 55.0 / 77 |
The club earned Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary certification during the 1990s and early 2000s. Its golf calendar runs from the Club Championship to themed 9 and dines, with associations for men, women and mixed competition.
In 2025 the club finished a clubhouse renovation of more than $5 million. The redesigned 15,253 sq. ft. building has an indoor and outdoor bar that opens to a covered dining terrace with views of holes 1 and 10.
The golf course is next. Golf course architect J. Drew Rogers, ASGCA, developed a program of course improvements in 2025 and lists a renovation as planned for 2027. The club says the aim is to upgrade the course’s infrastructure and visual identity while keeping the shorter holes and quick round, and it has published renderings of holes 1 and 10, hole 9, hole 17 and the practice area. It has not published a start date, a closure schedule or a budget.
How membership at The Moorings Golf & Country Club works
The club publishes four membership categories. It describes them on its website without current prices.
| Category | What it includes | Status or cost |
|---|---|---|
| Golf Membership | Voting rights, golf, dining and social privileges. Tee times 14 days in advance, special event reservations 30 days in advance | Waitlisted |
| Golf in Waiting Membership | An opportunity to enjoy the club while waiting for a spot as a full Golf Member | Privileges and price not published |
| Social Membership | Non-voting. Dining and event privileges for the member, spouse and dependent children under 26 | Price not published |
| Summer Membership | Runs May 1 to October 31. The club describes it as an opportunity for full-time residents of Naples | 2024 joining fee: $2,000 plus tax, with a $250 food and beverage minimum |
How you join: the club says you can join without a sponsor and without knowing a current member. There is an interview with a member of the membership committee, followed by final approval from the board. Because the Golf Membership is waitlisted, ask where a new applicant would stand and what the Golf in Waiting Membership includes. Start with the membership office at (239) 261-0909 or the membership request form at mooringscc.com.
Equity and refunds: the club’s federal return for the year ended September 30, 2025 says only full golf equity members vote and reports non-refundable equity golf initiation fees. Its 2022 membership page used the label Regular Golf Membership (Non-Refundable Equity). The club does not publish its refund or resignation terms, so ask for them in writing.
Assessments: the same return says the board cannot levy an assessment without approval from voting members, and that assessments of $3,500 or more need two-thirds of eligible voting members. It also reports capital contributions from voting and non-voting members and renovation assessments. With a course renovation planned for 2027, ask what a new member would owe.
What changed recently: the club has shown the waitlisted label on its Golf Membership since at least May 2025. Its Summer Membership moved from May 15 to October 15 in 2024 to May 1 to October 31. The Associate Membership on its 2022 page is no longer listed.
Other rates: the club’s 2024 summer packet, still on its website, lists for that season a playing fee of $30 for 18 holes with an electric cart or push cart, $8 to carry or use your own push cart, and a guest fee of $50 for 18 holes, cart included.

| Does your spouse or partner golf, and do you want a couples or social scene? | The club lists couples golf events and mixed competition, plus activity clubs from book club and bridge to poker and a car club. |
| Do you want amenities beyond golf, like tennis, pickleball, fitness, spa, or a beach club? | The club lists dining, two bocce courts, TrackMan simulators and activity clubs. Its website lists no tennis, pickleball, pool, fitness, spa or beach club. |
| Will kids or grandkids use the club? | Published policy: the Social Membership extends dining and event privileges to dependent children under 26, and the dress code applies to members and guests twelve and over. Ask about guest play. |
| What atmosphere fits you: traditional and formal, or relaxed? | The club calls its dining upscale, casual and coastal, and its written dress code sets business or smart casual for dinner, happy hour and regular clubhouse activities. |
| Where do you want to be: Naples, Bonita/Estero, or Marco, and how far will you drive? | Naples: in the City, west of US 41, on Crayton Road between Mooring Line Drive and Harbour Drive. |

Answer the 17 questions in the Apex Team Golf Club Quiz.
Take the Golf Club QuizWhere to live if you join The Moorings Golf & Country Club
Many of Joe’s clients live west of 41 and drive to a private club. The Moorings reverses that. The club is itself west of 41, inside a residential neighborhood, so you can live next to it. It says about 75% of its members live within a couple of miles and calls the club a walkable destination.
The neighborhood and the club are different things. The Moorings is a City of Naples neighborhood, and The Moorings Golf & Country Club is a private club inside it. Living in the Moorings does not make you a member: a home there does not come with a membership, and a membership does not require a home there. Moorings property owners have a separate organization of their own: the City of Naples says they are eligible to join the Moorings Property Owners Association, which gives its members parking privileges at Moorings Beach Park, member events and news (City page, 2022). That association is not the club. If golf is the reason you are buying, check the club’s waitlist before you make an offer.
The Moorings runs between the Gulf of Mexico and US 41, with Park Shore to the north and Coquina Sands to the south. Its housing is single-family homes and condominiums, and Joe’s closed sales there include both. Waterfront properties around the Moorings Bay System sit in the City’s Moorings Bay Special Taxing District, created in 1987 for water quality, navigability and maintenance dredging.
| Neighborhood | Where it sits | Road connection | Joe’s closed sales, Compass profile, October 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Moorings | Around the club | Crayton Road runs through it. Mooring Line Drive and Harbour Drive connect it east to US 41 | 25, largest $18.3 million in January 2026, buyer side |
| Park Shore | Directly north | Crayton Road continues north into it. Park Shore Drive connects it east to US 41 | 12 |
| Coquina Sands | Directly south | Crayton Road continues south into it | 13 |
| Olde Naples | South of Coquina Sands | Gulf Shore Boulevard runs south into it, and US 41 connects the two areas | 46 |
| Pelican Bay | North of Park Shore | Crayton Road continues north to Pelican Bay Boulevard South, which also meets US 41 | 18, including Bay Colony |
Through Belz Properties, Joe developed about 20 homes across Olde Naples, Coquina Sands and the Moorings. For a lot or an older house near the club, read buying a teardown lot in Olde Naples, the Moorings or Coquina Sands and first floor elevation, flood zones and insurance for Naples homes.
What Joe Belz says about The Moorings Golf & Country Club
Joe’s description of the course is one line: “The Moorings has a short golf course and Pelican Bay has a great 27 hole golf course.”
His larger point is about order. “We help people navigate which club and then where to live,” he says. On how his clients do it: “Live in the best locations and drive to a private golf club is what they do.” The Moorings is also one of the three areas Joe focuses on, with Olde Naples and Park Shore.
